Looking back at 78 years of Tupperware

It’s hard to believe that this household name was founded 78 years ago. Tupperware has been a household name throughout this time, bringing innovative, stylish, and practical storage solutions to homes around the world. Over the decades, we’ve evolved from revolutionary new products to a beloved kitchen staple. From Tupperware parties hosted in houses, to a digitised platform that anyone around the world can access and purchase!

As we celebrate these years of excellence, we're taking a nostalgic look back through some vintage and retro articles from our Tupperware drawer of archives, which captured the magic and excitement of our colourful containers through the ages.

Tupperware first gained widespread popularity in the 1950s, thanks to the now-iconic Tupperware Parties. Women’s Weekly featured numerous articles during this time, highlighting how these home demonstrations turned Tupperware into a social event, bringing women together to discover the wonders of airtight containers in the comfort of their homes. The "party plan" revolutionised home shopping, and Tupperware Parties soon became a symbol of empowerment and entrepreneurship for women.

A lot of these articles and paper newsletters featured a variety of different recipes that could be made at home (a lot of them including white rice).

The '80s were all about expansion, and Tupperware didn’t miss a beat. Women’s Weekly articles from this era celebrated Tupperware’s international growth and its presence in millions of homes worldwide. It was in the '80s that Tupperware’s reputation for durability and lifetime guarantees really took hold. Tupperware was no longer just for food storage—it became synonymous with long-lasting quality.

We even branched out to create toys by Tupperware, called Tuppertoys!

Looking at these older articles, we had a lot of fun and unique recipes, focusing on promoting an elevated and innovative cooking experience for women to make in their households. Tupperware has changed a lot with the times. We’re constantly innovating better products that can provide a more efficient cooking experience to our customers.
